Lago Vista United Methodist Church

Faith in Action

Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors

The Lago Vista United Methodist Fellowship was initiated in October of 2007. The first requirement for establishing a named fellowship with the United Methodist Church is to certify that there is potential to grow to 150 members to become a chartered church. 92 people showed up for that first discovery meeting. After some preliminary work by some key people the fellowship held its first Sunday service on December 9, 2007 and 108 people attended. We reached that magic mark of 150 members in May of 2008. On June 15, 2008 Pastor Richard Selke proclaimed that we are now a Church. As our attendance and membership continue to grow we are full of plans for new worship facilities, new ministries and new discipleship opportunities.

On June 15th, 2008, Pastor Richard Selke joined us as our first permanent pastor. He and his wife Susan were warmly welcomed.

Pastor Rick and Sharon Waters

Pastor Rick Waters volunteered to come out of retirement to help us form our new church. He was loaded with energy and passion for building our new church community. Through his tireless efforts, inspiring leadership and exemplary Christian service we are becoming the church we all knew we should be. Sharon Waters complements her husband’s zeal with a servant’s heart full of love and compassion. Pastor Rick turned over the pastorship on June 15, 2008 to Pastor Richard Selke. He and Sharon will continue as members of the new church. We know God will continue working through these two in our fellowship.
